Last Wednesday, I finally got around to putting up My Little Pet Dragon as a free promotion. I wasn't sure what to expect, but knew that it could potentially do big things. Boy was I in for a surprise!
The first day went surprisingly well, moving 6,000 copies and putting me in the top 500. Thursday proved to be even better, moving another 10,500 copies, and putting me at the top of the Free Children's E-book rankings. There was a little back and forth between the top three rankings, but by midnight I had seized the coveted #1 spot, where I would stay for the remainder of my 5-day promotion. The 3 days following I moved 11,000, 14,500, and 15,800 copies respectively, giving me a grand total of 56,800 giveaways. I peaked at #2 overall in the Kindle Store, second only to Hamster Habitat, a computer game by none other than Amazon themselves. Although I never did occupy the #1 spot overall, I did have the top free e-book since Hamster Habitat is a game, not an e-book.
In the days following the promotion I've fared well. Currently I'm #104 in the Kindle Store (I got as high as #98 and slipped a little), #96 in Kindle E-books, #4 in Children's Books (slipping from #2) and #6 in Children's E-books. I've sold 1,000 copies in a little less than 3 days, and hundreds of my other children's books. For the month of January, I've moved 63,000 e-books (over 2,000 paid copies), and still have 6 days left to go. Expect big things from me in 2012 as I transition to being a full time writer!
Excellent!! Congratulations, Scott. I'm so happy for you!
ReplyDeletePerfect! Long enough to hold the attention of my 4 year old grandson, without him leaving me to read by myself. He loves everything about it, oh and yes, he now wants a pet dragon!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Trina. I'm glad your grandson enjoyed it!
